Frequently asked questions

How much bigger should my backing be?

The backing needs 10" more than the top measures in each direction. So an 80" x 96" quilt top requires 90" x 106". We stock a wide variety of extra wide backings that measure 108" and more.

We're also happy to help you calculate how much is necessary to piece a backing from narrower fabric. We offer the service of stitching that for you.

How much does it cost to quilt a quilt?

We measure the quilt (length x width) and then multiply that x .025 (2-1/2 cents per square inch). For example: 60" x 72" would cost $108.

How long does it take to get a top quilted?

We run two machines, which stay busy. You are "in line" when we have both your top & back. Wait time depends on how many quilts we've already got in line. Averages between 4 & 6 weeks. If you need a more exact time, please feel free to phone 316-284-0390. There is a rush charge to get bumped up in the line.

What kind of quilting pattern should I choose? Thread color? What about batting?

We offer an excellent selection of all of the above. Our quilters are experts and you can depend on reliable, sensible advice!
