Hurricane anyone? If you've read my newsletters before, you may recall that my father lives in Tampa and my sister is in Miami Beach. Dad is very close to the university there in Tampa, which is inland, on relatively "high ground" and he lives on the 12th (top!) floor of a rare high-rise. As I write this, all is well. We just keep our fingers crossed that the elevators continue to function. Meanwhile, the many less fortunate are in our thoughts. Some people, many uninsured, will lose everything. My heart goes out to them. For years my dad was a Red Cross volunteer who scouted and laid the ground work for large, sound buildings that could be used to house evacuees. He was in the "lucky decades" when they didn't have large storms or hurricanes. But someone is still doing that work and more today! We are very thankful for all those who are battling incredible circumstances to continue working! |
